We were approached by GAS, as we've met on the custom circuit a few times, and they wanted to try our approach to help them with a customer visualising their final design concept. A problem common in many industries is, we as designers we are fortunate to be able to see concepts in our minds eye, but many cannot.
Many people, especially those wanting a unique product, like some idea of what the craftspeople are providing. To make sure there's a grasp of what they are asking for, before they part with their hard earned money and begin the process of producing their dream bike, car, kitchen, furniture or whatever you create...
Many craftspeople however still work with their hands and eyes in an organic way, so getting over what they will make can sometimes be difficult to explain and that's where we come in. With no more than a couple of lines on an email, a sketch, and a couple of reference images we were able to produce 3D visuals, reference drawings, and any variations requested during the development process (twin shock, rising rate and monoshock in this case), and a video walkaround to ensure their customer was happy with the final concept before placing an order. Ultimately around 5 days of our time translated to landing a healthy order.
Our thanks go to Gasoline Ally Speedshop for the custom, having the faith in us, and embracing this technology as a very small part of what they offer.
Now, many armchair warriors can pull apart the quality, the assembly not having bolts fitted, and a host of other items, but we won't waste your time and money...
This is as far as the customer needed to go, just to see what they were getting and approve the concept for production.
We could have gone full realism, added every nut and bolt, and even finessed the body lines, but the craftsperson's job is doing that.
We just get you to a detail level needed to gain approval, without wasting time or profitability, nor by adding excess bells and whistles when they are not required...
